Hi!
My name is Wynonna Franken and I'm a writer, illustrator and founder of The Quiet. I'm known as a girl with few words, the spoken words at least. I found myself, my home and my voice in the silence, in illustrating and most importantly in writing. You can use your voice in so many different ways instead of just speaking them out loud. Silence is a voice too.
Writing was the only way to silence the deafening voices in my overflowing brain. Creativity runs in my blood and I channel it in many different ways. The main form is writing poetry and short stories, but also graphic design and conceptual thinking.
My love for nature, the earth and traveling (I am, as a matter of fact, a graduated geography teacher) runs deep. Looking at- and experiencing art calms me down and I want to preserve the beauty that our planet Earth has to offer us. My goal is to make sure the next generations can see the beauty of all this with their own eyes too, just like we are able to.
As the creator and founder of The Quiet I want to make a statement to the world and especially to us, the human beings. I want to revive unpopular visions and opinions, be a voice for the people who are silenced by the extroverted, shouting and defining world. I'm done with hiding behind the curtains. I'm done with sitting in the corner and waiting for it to become better. I'm done with wanting to be normal. I'm done with trying to be normal and I want people who can relate to this, to stand up for themselves and do the same.
We, the silent people, the (over)thinkers constantly get forced to talk in our daily life. We need to be more present in the classroom, in our meetings at work. We need to ask more questions, voice our thoughts and opinions (at least, when it's the same opinion like the majority, otherwise keep your mouth shut). Sometimes you just shut down, you struggle with your words and struggle with forming sentences. Sometimes you just want to sit and listen, be quiet. And that's okay! Remember:
Silence is a voice too
and The Quiet is mine.
